Featured Lesson: Thing Link
Do you and your students ever label anything? Well, this is the site that takes labeling to another level by making any image interactive! Thinglink allows you to create hotspots on top of photos or images that you upload into your site. Then when you embed or share the image with someone else and hover over, the image explains itself! Thinglink has educator accounts that allows you to create safe student accounts using their classroom based login system. (Free!) One way I have used it is with my Phishing e-mail lesson (see student created sample, left). After learning all the warning signs, students are given several images of sample phishing e-mails. Their job then is to label all the signs of a phishing attempt in the e-mail and share it back with the class group. This enables them to process and synthesize their learning while teaching each other through sharing their own examples. Other things you could label? Maps, charts, diagrams, sentences, art work, music sheets, the parts of an equation, the possibilities go on and on. Since it is web based, students can make a Thinglink anytime, anywhere. |
